The Pioneer Trail at Jennings State Forest offers a unique hiking experience not commonly found in Florida. Constant elevation gain/loss, beautiful bluffs above Black Creek, hollows, waterfalls and much more can be found on this exciting hiking trail.
Beginners to the experienced hiker will find both challenges and beauty along its path. The Pioneer Trail southern terminus is at the Indian Ford Recreation Area and currently uses Powell Ford as its northern terminus. Additionally, there are several start/stop points accessible by visitors at Ellis Ford Recreation Area and Knights Landing Recreation Area.
Convenient resting benches and wayfinding signage are common on the trail. The total length of the Pioneer Trail from southern terminus to northern terminus is approximately 10 miles.
Directions: From County Road 218, take Nolan Road to Hattie Nolan Road and turn right. Follow Hattie Nolan Road through Jennings State Forest entrance to Indian Ford Road at cemetery. Continue straight onto Indian Ford Road for approximately half a mile.
