May 21, 2024 – City of Green Cove Springs will be hosting its 36th Annual Green Cove Springs RiverFest on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Spring Park.
“We are celebrating the 36th annual festival and having lived here my whole life, I have attended almost all of them! I work with an amazing team who strive to make each year better for those who attend, and a community who comes out and supports this day of celebration and remembrance! Organizing this event each year gives me great joy and makes me proud to be a part of the City staff and a part of this community!” said City Event Coordinator and Executive Assistant to the City Manager Kimberly Thomas.
Green Cove Springs RiverFest honors Memorial Day and celebrates the upcoming summer season. The Opening Ceremony is in partnership with the Clay County military veteran’s community. It honors those who gave their lives in the line of duty with a flyover by Dreamland Squadron, an Old Glory presentation, wreath laying, bell ringing, and Taps performance. The military community continues to be part of the festivities through military displays and memorabilia displays presented by Camp Blanding Museum and MVPA.
After Opening Ceremonies, festivities open to the rest of Spring Park. Live entertainment by Evans Media Source is held at the Spring Park Gazebo all afternoon, with headliners Bedrock Band and many more. City Pool is open and free to the public from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Surrounding the pool, the park will be blanketed with over 100 craft and nonprofit booths, featuring a Children’s Market, a Kids’ Zone with face painting and bounce houses, and up to 22 local food trucks.
RiverFest ends with a bang thanks to fireworks display by North Florida Pyrotechnics over the St. Johns River. This year boat owners are invited to take their boats out on the water for a spectacular view of the show. The City Pier will be closed to boats from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday, May 27, in preparation and duration of the fireworks show. Walnut Street and St Johns (in the park by the river) will be closed to public parking from midnight Saturday, May 25 to Tuesday, May 28 for festival set up and violators will be towed.
