Disc Golfing in Clay County, Florida

Whether you prefer to call it Frisbee golf or disc golf, the popular activity has been around for many years and most recently, it has become an even more common activity for families and young adults to play together.

Clay County is home to its own 36-hole disc golf course at Ronnie Van Zant Park located in Lake Asbury, between Green Cove Springs and Middleburg. Free and open to the public from sunrise to sunset, the course often receives rave reviews from disc golf enthusiasts.

Let’s take a look at the course!

Things to Know About Clay County’s Disc Golf Couse

The disc golf course’s overall length comes in at 10,377 feet. The two, 18-hole courses both make their way through the park and wooded areas of tall pine tree and low-hanging oak trees with a slight slope. Local disc golf enthusiast, Jon Cantrell designed, built and handled fundraising to create the course in 1999.

The local disc golf community holds weekly meetups to play against each other and organize regular efforts to clean, mow and maintain the course for the community. In 2021, the Sunshine State Games used the park’s disc golf course as the host course for amateur players from across the state.
