Join us for the 2nd Annual Halloween Havoc on a friday evening at twilight/darkness trail running adventures on the majestic Pioneer Trail in Jennings State Forest for a unique one of a kind trail race where we will be running right by Dunn Cemetery under the moon lite sky and glow sticks lining the trail! This is a 3.75 mile out and back looped course on a relatively flat course where at the 2 mile mark you will traverse through the historic Dunn Cemetery. We will have some exciting and exhilarating ” features” along the route and will have a halloween theme for all you superstitious and spooky type individuals! Headlamps will be required for all runners/walkers and there will be a 1.5 hr cutoff to be finished to be off the trail by 8:30pm. We will have 1 “scare” station at the cemetery which will be “accessorized” by our lovely friend Michelle AKA Minnie and will have you all ready for the return “climb” back up the service road to the final stretch of flat trail to the finish. This is a cupless race so you will need to carry your own handheld water bottle or hydration pack. This race is presented by Sombrero Running Events and Race Director Mike Martinez whom has only 2 well known ” rules” which are: Rule 62 = Dont take yourself too damn seriously as well as his #wontgetlost policy especially in the dark 🙂
AWARDS: We will have awards for top 3 overall Female and Male, overall Masters ( 40 and above) and Grandmasters ( 50 and above ) as well as the HIGHLY COVETED Slow A$$ award for DFL for Female and Male. We will also have a best dressed costume contest award as well as various other awesome awards/swag that the RD Mike Martinez is known to give away.to random participants! If we are able to provide shirts for the race ( if interested in being a shirt sponsor please contact us ) the shirt deadline will be October 1. We will also have a post race party that you will not forget and a great vibe for all whom attend. We are also “kid friendly” and had several youngsters run the event last year in costume and they had a blast with many first time trail runners!
This is a CUPLESS race so you will need to bring your own handheld bottle or other form of hydration container.
A portion of the proceeds from this race will go to the Foundations of Freedom men’s sober living residential living facility and if interested we also have an additional option to donate on your own as well.
