Operation Outdoor Freedom Pioneer Trail

Come and join us on Sunday November 5, 2023 in Jennings State Forest on the Pioneer Trail for the Fall Version of this event ( we also have on in the spring on the Sandridge Trail ) and experience the beauty and majesty of the Dunns Farm Loop and the gorgeous waterfalls and bluffs overlooking these waterfalls. We are offering 2 distances for this event a 12k and 6k which will be a looped course that you will either do 1 or 2 loops on a non technical and flat ish course. We will have a main aid station at the start / finish line and a mini aid station at the 4 way section at the 1 and 2 mile mark of each loop. You will need to bring your own hydration vessel ( handheld/ hydration pack) since we will once again be a CUPLESS RACE, we are environmentally conscious and this is a great way to maintain that.

The race director Mike Martinez AKA Sober Sombrero Runner has only 1 main rule and that is RULE 62 = Dont Take Yourself Too Damn Seriously so basically be kind to others and courteous while on the trails ( because afterall we don’t own this land ) We are a lighthearted group that likes to have fun on the run yet at the same time like to challenge ourselves and limits. We have many first time trail runners join us at our events and we believe its because of our welcoming attitudes towards all people.

We will have Overall Awards to top 3 male and female  as well as Overall Awards for Masters (  over  40) and Grandmasters ( over 50 ) for each distance as well as Mike’s HIGHLY COVETED SLOW A$$ awards for the DFL winners of each race which will be awarded to a male and female because we celebrate EVERYONE!! We will have custom wood finishers medal to all participants as well as other random free giveaways that Mike is well know for at his races. We will also have a post race party of a smorgasbord of food and non alcoholic beverages ( Florida Forest Service prohibits any form of alcohol on forest service property)

ALL PROCEEDS from this race goes directly back to the Florida Forest Service Operation Outdoor Freedom program that benefits wounded veterans.

Operation Outdoor Freedom offers recreational and rehabilitation opportunities to wounded veterans on state forests, agricultural lands and private lands throughout Florida at no cost to the veteran. Since its inception in 2009, Operation Outdoor Freedom has hosted more than 500 events and served approximately 4,100 wounded veterans.
